Zaria Wins NXT Women’s North American Championship — A Coronation Long Overdue

If there was any doubt that Zaria belonged at the top of NXT’s women’s division, she erased every last one of them in emphatic fashion on Tuesday night.

From the opening bell, Zaria came out like a woman on a mission. She stormed at Paxley with an immediate spear — nearly ending the match in under a minute — before dragging the champion to ringside and launching her into the barricade and ring post like a human wrecking ball. Paxley, who came out in full Rouge The Bat cosplay complete with vampire fangs, fought back with everything she had. A Coast-to-Coast dropkick from the Tree of Woe position had the Performance Center buzzing, and both women traded finisher counters in a frantic back-and-forth sequence.

But when the smoke cleared, it was Zaria who had the last word — a devastating F-5 on the floor, followed by a spear and a second F-5 inside the ring for the pinfall. The Australian powerhouse crumpled to the mat in pure emotion. First championship. First taste of gold. Completely deserved.

NXT Great American Bash Matches Set — Naraku Earns NXT Title Shot

The night opened the Road to Great American Bash with two massive No.1 Contender matches, and both delivered.

Naraku def. Mason Rook in a hard-hitting affair that had the Performance Center chanting “This is Awesome” down the stretch. The former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion was on the back foot for much of the match — Rook’s avalanche powerslam nearly ended it — but a well-timed ringside appearance from Kam Hendrix distracted Rook long enough for Naraku to land his Enter the Abyss finisher for the win. Naraku will now challenge Tony D’Angelo for the NXT Championship at Great American Bash on June 28.

The storyline continues to simmer — later in the night, Naraku delivered a mysterious Kanji box to D’Angelo backstage, which turned out to be an invitation. Mind games already well underway.

Kendal Grey def. Kelani Jordan in arguably the match of the night — a technically breathtaking contest that had the crowd gripped from start to finish. Jordan tried a pre-match sneak attack that Grey saw coming a mile away, and from there the two tore the house down. German suplexes, armbar sequences, a stunning Five-Star Frog Splash from Jordan — Grey absorbed everything and answered with her signature Shades of Grey to punch her ticket to face Lola Vice for the NXT Women’s Championship at Great American Bash.

Grey dropping the straps remains one of the loudest crowd reactions in NXT right now. Expect the roof to come off when she does it on June 28.

Fraxiom Return, Mr. NXT Chaos & More — NXT June 9 Highlights

Fraxiom stole the opener. Nathan Frazer and Axiom returned to NXT for the first time in over a year, defeating Romeo Moreno and Noam Dar after a Golden Ratio/Phoenix Splash combo. The match was a genuine show-stealer — Moreno in particular looked like a future breakout star, matching Fraxiom move for move with the kind of fire and speed reminiscent of a young Je’Von Evans.

The Mr. NXT Pageant was equal parts comedy and chaos. Shiloh Hill edged Tristan Angels across three rounds — fashion, talent (Hill juggled while riding a unicycle), and public speaking — with the deciding fan vote going Hill’s way. The celebration lasted about ten seconds before Angels snapped, laid Hill out with a steel chair, and declared “Mr. NXT” his birthright. A feud that was always building toward a match just got a rocket strapped to it.
